Educators demonstrate a broad knowledge base and an understanding of areas they teach.
The role of teachers is to ensure that all curricular material is taught and understood by the students. There are multiple avenues for teachers to learn and teach the material. By constantly seeking new materials, resources, and teaching tools, we are becoming better equipped to adapt if necessary. Staying on-top of curricular changes and updates will also demonstrate a better understanding of each subject area. Reflecting and taking notes on past lesson plans can help improve future lessons. Additionally, it is important to be teaching from a Canadian perspective. We must, however, be mindful and acknowledge different cultural perspectives in the classroom. A large portion of classroom engagement is to recognize the adversity in the classrooms by bringing in different cultures, views, and celebrations of holidays. The utilizing of our fellow peers broad based knowledge will also help us foster deeper relationships.
