Educators value the success of all students. Educators care for students and act in their best interests.
In order for our students to succeed, we as educators must reflect, rework and adapt previous ideas to meet the needs of our students. Looking back at previous lesson plans is a great reflective tool for us as teacher candidates as we can reevaluate what did and didn’t work. For example, looking back at how we managed our time, how we gave instructions, or how the instructions were received. Having the opportunity to go back and rework a few lesson plans as assignments not only allowed us to rethink but to get additional feedback. Some considerations upon looking back at my lesson plans included teaching to ELL students, including more inclusive practices and adaptations for students who may need additional support. It also taught me how to be more mindful of including Cross Curricular elements.
