Educators act ethically and maintain the integrity, credibility and reputation of the profession.

Teaching is seen as a high-profile job, constantly in the community’s spotlight. As a result of this, educators must always be mindful. Teaching is a rewarding job. Every day you have the opportunity to bring joy, knowledge, and sometimes even some magic into the lives of your students. Reputations take years to build and establish, yet only moments to diminish. Every day we walk into our classrooms wanting to ensure our students have access to the best quality of learning. We must ensure that we are providing just that. Acting professionally and maintaining integrity goes beyond the walls of the school. It translates through all aspects of life. After spending just over a year in a small town like Terrace, it is easy to see how everyone is connected in one way or another. This was a significant adjustment as in a more substantial metropolis such as Vancouver, and you may only know some of you run into at the grocery store. Teaching in a small town has its challenges. The stage may be smaller, but the spotlight is as bright and powerful. Living here has shown me that everything I do can be seen, which is why I understand the importance of maintaining one’s reputation and
